Larry Jones, CEO and President
Larry Jones serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of SDN Global, a broadband satellite company. Jones has more than 31 years of professional management experience. Jones joined SDN Global’s predecessor company in 1992 to create a new division, which became SDN Global. In his role at SDN Global, Jones manages the operations of the company, including sales, marketing, finance, technology and vendor relations.
Jones has worked in the telecommunications space for several decades, including several startups and acquisition activities, starting with a company that was acquired by BellSouth. Preceding his arrival at SDN Global, Jones was Regional Business Director at AvData Systems, which was acquired by ITC DeltaCom. Previously, Jones was Vice President and General Manager at Telecommunications Enterprises, Inc., where he deployed over 500 VSAT sites. Before that, Jones designed and implemented large scale voice and data switching systems as a contractor for companies such as Northern Telecom, ITT and Mitel.
Jones has spoken at domestic and international conferences as well as participated in roundtables and panels on technology and telecommunications. He served as board member and technology officer for Vista International Users Group from 1996 until 1998.
Jones is involved with the Business Innovation & Growth Council and the Charlotte Chamber.
Timothy R. McKee, Vice President of Network Services
Tim McKee is Vice President of Network Services at SDN Global. Tim has more than twenty five years of data experience. He arrived at SDN Global in 2004. In his role, McKee is responsible for product engineering, deployment of the company’s network backbone and strategic network services, for both clients and SDN Global.
McKee comes to SDN Global from NuVox Communications (where he helped design build and operate a large regional broadband network) where he was Senior Director of Data Network Planning & Operations. Preceding that, in 1993, McKee helped launch the first commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP) in South Carolina. In addition, McKee earned the rank of Captain in the US Air Force. While serving, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
McKee holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Chemistry from Lander University, Greenwood, SC, completing his studies in May 1976.
Dennis Ewald, Director of Business Development
Dennis Ewald joined the company as Director of Business Development in 2006 and is responsible for the development of new markets and strategic relationships. Ewald has over 20 years of strategic business growth success including practical experiences with radio frequency (RF) systems, handheld devices, video conferencing, satellite communications, broadband wireless, and global positioning systems. He has led strategic initiatives from market feasibility studies to global expansions in business environments from start-up to corporate development.
Prior to SDN Global, Ewald worked as a consultant providing marketing and business development services to companies in diverse market segments from satellite communications to construction equipment manufacturing. Before starting his consulting practice, Ewald was the Director of Corporate Development at Glenayre Electronics where he led M&A and strategic initiatives, and managed the successful start-up of Glenayre’s global Satellite Systems business.
Ewald received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Operations from North Carolina State University.
